Greenville girls tennis wins three straight
GREENVILLE — The Greenville girls tennis team won its past three
matches, winning 4-1 at Celina and Xenia and sweeping St. Marys 5-0 to
improve to 4-1 on the season.
At Celina on Wednesday, Greenville won 4-1.
Sophia Navas-Davis beat Kelly Gardner 6-1, 6-1 at first singles. At
second singles Michelle Borgerding beat Sara Jenkins 6-0, 6-1. And in
third singles Erin Scott lost to Brooke Sutter 2-6, 7-6, 5-7.
At first doubles Madison Bixler and Abby Monnin beat Maddie Cline and
Sabrina Smith 6-3, 6-4. In the second doubles match, Holly Cameron and
Mallory Rich beat Nicole Elston and Leah Zuercher 6-1, 6-1.
In junior varsity action, Rachel Britsch won in singles while Alexis
Wentworth and Natalie Blinn, Hannah Gulley and Hope Pike, and Stacy
Strobel and Paige Flore won in doubles.
Then Thursday at Xenia, Greenville again won 4-1.
After being down 5-4 and having two match points against her, Sophia
Navas-Davis beat Tricia Crawford 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 in first singles. At
second singles Michelle Borgerding beat Tarah Crawford 6-1, 6-0. And in
third singles Holly Cameron lost to Tabitha Crawford 2-6, 2-6.
In first doubles Madison Bixler and Abby Monnin beat Miranda Eagle and
Allysa Wanger 6-1, 6-0. Xenia forfeited the second doubles match
because it didn’t have enough players.
On Friday against St. Marys, Greenville won 5-0.
Sophia Navas-Davis beat Anna Ernst 6-0, 6-1 in first singles. Michelle
Borgerding swept Hannah Felver 6-0, 6-0 to improve to 5-0 on the
season. And in third singles, Raquel Navas-Davis returned from injury
and swept Bailey Rust 6-0, 6-0.
In first doubles Abby Monnin and Bixler beat Abby Wilker and Jennifer
Lauth 6-1, 6-1 to improve to 5-0 on the yer. And in second doubles,
Mallory Rich and Erin Scott beat Avery Ellis and Jenna Perry 6-3, 6-4.
Greenville is now 4-1 on the season and returns to action at 4 p.m.
today against Milton-Union.
