Sectional
action resumes tonight By George Starks
BROOKVILLE- The second round of the OHSAA sectional girls basketball tournament will resume tonight in Brookville.
Two county teams that took first round byes will be in action tonight.
In the 6 pm opener, Franklin Monroe enters with a 9-10 record after
coming off a loss at Tri-County North on February 9 in Lewisburg,
62-53. The Jets will face Southeastern tonight. The Trojans
squeaked by Twin Valley South Saturday, 22-19, in a game that held a
10-8 score at the half.
Unless the Trojans were hiding something, Claire Neiswander, Taylor
Robins, Haley Gray and the rest of the Jets should fly past this bunch
in a snoozer.
The nightcap should prove to be much more interesting as Mississinawa
Valley and Covington will match up for the second time this season.
The Blackhawks ate on a five game losing skid with their last win coming on January 14 in a 43-24 victory over Union City.
Since that victory, the Hawks have lost to Franklin Monroe, Houston,
Newton, Ft. Recovery and Tri-Village. Mississinawa Valley is
hungry for a victory and with the Buccs just getting past Bradford,
this could be interesting.
Wednesday, the Arcanum Lady Trojans will be in action at Tipp City in
D-III action while Ansonia will battle Ft. Loramie in D-IV action at
Sidney.
Greenville will meet Kenton Ridge in the Techumseh sectional, starting at 6 pm.
The Trojans/Tigers game will start at 7:30 while the A-Tigers and Redskins are scheduled to tip at 6 pm.
Thursday in Brookville, Tri-Village will look to advance in its D-IV
sectional against Emanuel Christian. That game is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
The Patriots advanced, destroying Jefferson, 101-22.
