Keller wins national title

SAVANNAH, Ga- Darke County YMCA’s Paige Keller won the 2013 national
champion for the vault at the 2013 YMCA gymnastics national
championships.
YMCA of Darke County sent 19 gymnastic members to the national
championships. The girls competed over a total of three days.
More than 2,200 gymnasts competed, and Ohio had the largest number of
teams that competed. There were approximately 690 gymnasts from Ohio
that competed from 28 teams, including Darke County’s.
After three days of competing, Keller earned the title of national
champion with a score of 9.65.
Darke County’s other 18 team members performed exceptionally well in
the levels in which they competed. Darke County had every level from 4
to the Champion level, who were coached by Jessica Pothast, Katy Smith
and Carrie Stiefel.
The Darke County YMCA has a new season coming up with more new gymnasts
that have joined.
The Y works every day to strengthen the foundation of our community
through Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility.
