Three teams
still looking for big finishes
T-V and Versailles
still going strong
By George Starks
Darke County- Just as predicted at the start of the season, there are
still two schools with three teams total, still going strong in the
OHSAA basketball tournament.
Coming off a hard fought 46-40 battle with Franklin Monroe Saturday in
the D-IV sectional finals in Troy, Tri-Village will hit the hardwood at
the University of Dayton Arena in the district final.
In that game against the Jets, senior Kyle Pipenger led the way with 18
points while junior Tyler Cook added 14 in support.
Seniors Matt Werner Shade Brubaker chipped in six each and Andrew
Wilcox a bucket.
The Patriots are looking at the possibility of heading to Columbus for
the right to play in the state final four.
Standing in the way of the undefeated Patriots are the Seven Hills
Stingers.
Seven Hills was the seven seed in the Oak Hill sectional and came in
with a 7-11 record at the time of the draw.
Records can be deceiving as Seven Hills topped James Gamble in the
sectional opener, 61-36 before beating the two seed, Country Day,
64-40. In the title game, Seven Hills won in overtime, beating the four
seed, Fayette Perry, 66-62.
The Patriots and Stingers will tip-off at 5 pm., tonight at the UD
Arena.
Lady Patriots-Indians
Wednesday, seniors Shaye Thomas, Teha Richards and Elizabeth Collins
will battle a very tough Mechanicsburg team in D-IV basketball.
Saturday in the district game with Yellow Springs, the Patriots posted
a 55-31 victory over a hard-nosed, Yellow Springs team.
Mechanicsburg, came out of the Sidney sectional and posted a 71-51
victory over Cincinnati Country Day in its district game. In that game,
Country Day had the Indians on the ropes until late in the game.
Tri-Village will hook up with the Indians Wednesday night at Tipp City
in the regional semi-finals.
Versailles-Stivers
Thursday, it will be the clash of the Tigers as Versailles and Stivers
will do battle at the UD Arena in DIII district action.
Up until now, Versailles, the two seed in the Tipp City sectional, has
cruised through the sectionals, beating National Trail, 64-30, Twin
Valley South 69-36 and Bethel in the sectional final, 81-34.

but has posted wins over Preble Shawnee, 84-65, Dayton Christian, 67-56
and Fenwick, 56-50 in the sectional final in Bellbrook.
