Local coach and
players receive all-state honors
DARKE COUNTY- Tri-Village boys basketball coach Josh Sagester was named
the Division IV boys basketball co-coach of the year by the AP along
with Michael Bates of Columbus Africentric and Eric Rosenbeck of St.
Henry.
Sagester led the Patriots to an undefeated regular season, earning the
Patriots the No. 1 ranking in Division IV from the AP. He also led his
team to the regional tournament for just the second time in program
history and the first time since 1991.
Tri-Village senior guard Kyle Pipenger was named second team all-Ohio
in Division IV, while three other Darke County players were recognized
as well.
Pipenger, the Cross County Conference player of the year, led all Darke
County players with 21.2 points a game this season while also pulling
down 4.7 rebounds a game and dishing out 4.4 assists a game.
Versailles sophomore guard Kyle Ahrens was named special mention
all-Ohio in Division III, leading the Tigers with 19.1 points a game,
6.2 rebounds per game and 1.6 assists per game this season and a trip
to Columbus for a shot at the state title..
Mississinawa Valley junior Dane Blumenstock was named honorable mention
all-Ohio in Division IV by the AP. He led the Blackhawks with 19.6
points per game and 5.5 rebounds per game this season.
Tri-Village junior forward Tyler Cook was named honorable mention
all-Ohio in Division IV. Cook averaged 13.1 points per game and a
team-best 7.8 rebounds per game this season.
