Seven local schools will host first round
softball action
DARKE COUNTY- The Ohio High School Athletic Association released the
brackets for its postseason tournament Sunday and seven of the eight
county schools will host post season tournament games.
The state wide tournament starts Monday, May 13 with the state final
four coming in June.
The Greenville softball team (20-4) earned the No. 1 seed in its
Division II Tecumseh sectional. The Lady Wave, who have a first-round
bye in the tournament, will play the winner of the May 14 match up
between ninth-seeded Tecumseh (11-10) and 11th-seeded Greenon (6-10) on
May 16 in Greenville.
Arcanum and Versailles are in the Division III Northmont sectional and
will begin tournament play at home.
Fourth-seeded Versailles (15-5) will play host to 12th-seeded
Meadowdale (5-3) May 13 to begin the tournament. The winner will play
the winner of the sixth-seeded West Liberty-Salem (14-9) or 10th-seeded
National Trail (7-13) game on May 15.
Fifth-seeded Arcanum (12-5) will play host to the nine-seed, Tri-County
North (9-8) May 13. The winner will play either third-seeded
Northeastern (15-3) or 14th-seeded Dunbar (0-11) May 15.
Franklin Monroe and Tri-Village both are in the Division IV Dayton 2
sectional and will start the tournament with home games.
Tri-Village, the two seed, (12-6), will play host to
sixth-seeded Bethel (4-15) May 16.
Fourth-seeded Franklin Monroe (6-9) will play host to fifth-seeded Twin
Valley South (4-13) on May 16.
The winner of the Tri-Village vs. Bethel and Franklin Monroe vs. Twin
Valley South games will play each other May 21 at Newton.
Ansonia, Bradford and Mississinawa Valley each are in the Division IV
Sidney 3 sectional.
Seventh-seeded Bradford (10-11) will play host to 15th-seeded Yellow
Springs (1-6) May 14. The winner of that game will advance to play at
third-seeded Fort Loramie (15-4), who has a first-round bye, on May 16.
Sixth-seeded Ansonia (11-14) will play host to 11th-seeded Mississinawa
Valley (8-8) on May 16. The winner of that game will advance to play
the winner of Fort Loramie vs. Bradford/Yellow Springs on May 21 at
Fairlawn.
The OHSAA tournament is a single-elimination format. Losing teams are
eliminated from the tournament while winners advance until they lose or
are crowned state champion.
