Lady
Trojans end season on down slide

BROOKVILLE-
The Arcanum Lady Trojans took it on the chin Saturday in the opening
round of the sectionals, dropping three straight to West Liberty
Salem, 25-20, 25-8, 25-20.
In
two of the three games, the Trojans were in each one right to the
end.
Longtime
head coach Terri Day though her girls played well overall but had
little to say.
“We
hung right in there with them,” said Day. “If it weren’t for
the way the second game turned out, we’d still be out there
playing. WLS is a good team but we needed to be clicking on all
cylinders today and we weren’t.”
With
the first and third games going back and forth in see-saw fashion,
Day was quick to admit it was a good overview of how the season went
for her team.
“The
way things went today, it was typical of the way our season went,”
admitted Day. “They had a hitter that was really giving us fits
though. It’s hard to defend someone when their arm is three feet
over the net.”
When
the Trojans needed a point or two more…well…
“When
we needed a point here or there, we came up short,” said Day. “We
would get the momentum and then lose it. Then we would get it back,
only to come up short and lose it again. We dug little holes then
tried to get out of them late in the game and couldn’t do it. Even
if it were a two or three point hole, we couldn’t get through it.
We struggled to get out of that.”
