Trojans bounced by Covington

Heading into a big showdown with perennial conference power Covington,
a young Arcanum Trojans team was looking to stake its claim as a
challenger to the throne.
Unfortunately for the Trojans, they ran into an offensive buzz saw in
Buccaneer halfback A.J. Ouellette, who ran for 338 yards and scored six
times in handing Arcanum a 70-19 defeat.
But it wasn’t all doom and gloom for Arcanum as it had offensive
success of its own, scoring 19 points against a stingy Buccaneer
defense and tallying 270 yards of total offense.
Mason Garber scored on an 8-yard run and Dalton Lindemuth hauled in a
4-yard touchdown pass.
The Trojans also received a big boost from the special teams unit as
Austin Baker broke loose for an 83-yard touchdown on a kick return.
But it wasn’t enough to overcome the six turnover that were committed –
four on interceptions and two via fumble.
It also wasn’t enough to keep pace with Ouellette.
Arcanum drops to 1-1 overall and 0-1 in the CCC with another huge CCC
showdown with another conference power, Tri-County North next week.
