Lady Wave tennis sweeps Wayne

GREENVILLE- The Greenville girls tennis team got remained on track Monday with a 5-0 sweep of the Wayne Warriors, winning all matches in two sets.
Sophia Novis-Davis rolled to a 6-1, 6-0 victory while Michelle Borgerding remained undefeated in second singles by identical scores of 6-0.
In third singles action, Michelle Novis-Davis had duplicate scores of 6-1, 6-1.
The first doubles rolled to 6-3, 6-4 wins with second doubles posting 6-1, 6-0 scores.
"We've been really coming on lately especially with our doubles team," said Wave tennis coach Jim Koontz. "We had some trouble at the beginning of the season but tonight, we looked good. I told my doubles teams that we can't rely on our singles teams to carry us all the time and tonight they stepped it up and we are getting what we need out of our doubles teams."
With the Wave having already beat Troy, the GWOC North is theirs to win if the team can stay focused and get a win against Butler next week.
The shining star for the Wave this season is Borgerding who is currently undefeated at second singles.
Koontz likes her chances of going through the season unscaved.
:I think she can stay undefeated the rest of the season," said Koontz. "With what we have left on the schedule, I think she can do this."
While Wayne is no powerhouse, the Warriors do play a tough schedule with teams like Fairmont, Northmont and Springfield on the GWOC list.
"They play a brutal schedule," said Koontz. "They don't have big numbers on the team and that hurts them as a team."
With the victory, Greenville goes to 10-2 on the season and will play at Springfield tonight.
The North title will be up for grabs next Tuesday at home with Butler starting at 4:30.
