Gov. Kasich honors UD Flyers Elite Eight team

Gov. John Kasich congratulated the UD Flyers basketball team on their
NCAA tournament run to the Elite Eight during a celebration for the
NCAA First Four Local Organizing Committee at UD Arena on Thursday.

leaders honored the Dayton Flyers basketball team for their unlikely
run to the Elite 8 Thursday.
In an
event at UD Arena, the team met with a number of local officials,
including Ohio Gov. John Kasich who congratulated them on their run.
It was also chance to bring to light the region’s efforts promoting
the First Four, the annual play-in games which have been held in
Dayton for several years.
“It
represents the spirit of Dayton,” Kasich said. “I hope the city
can, and will, do more to recognize what these young men did and
invest in these guys to make sure they have a future in Ohio.”
Kasich
also applauded University of Dayton Flyers head coach Archie Miller,
before himself donning a jersey emblazoned “Kasich” on the
