Lady Wave continue winning ways

GREENVILLE- Two of the states top softball teams hooked up for battle Friday night in a non-league battle. Covington came in with one loss on the season and has been to the state final four the past 3 seasons. Greenville has been a dominating force since Jerrod Newland took over the program.

The game lived up to the hype as Greenville pulled out a 4-3 victory. The Lady Wave jumped out to an early 1-0 lead that could have been much worse. With no outs and the bases loaded, the Lady Buccs were able to get out of the inning without surrendering any more runs.

Covington was able to tie the game in the top of the second inning, and then took a 2-1 lead in the third. In Greenville fashion, the Lady Wave were not rattled and made a comeback in the fifth inning taking back the lead 3-2. The Wave scored another run in the sixth for a 4-2 lead.  Covington would not quit and was able to score 1 run in the top of the seventh. The Buccs could not get any more runs and the Wave collected a hard fought victory.
