Jets flex
muscle in win over National Trail
By George Starks
PITSBURG- It took Franklin Monroe a mere 16 seconds to put up the first
score of the night and less than one minute to score the second.
With 40 minutes in the books, the Jets had built a 5-0 lead and would
put nine more goals on the board in the second.
When it was all said and done, the Jets unloaded a 14-0 beat down on
National Train in Cross County Conference action.
Even with a lopsided outcome, Jets coach Danny Diceanu seen many good
things from his kids besides the ability to score goals.
“I’m happy with the way my boys played tonight, the way we moved
the ball and the patience on the ball,” said Diceanu, “Trail is a young
team and they tried. They hustled as much as they could and they had a
great effort. It is what it is. It’s the first home game of the season
and the field is bumpy. We are in the process of getting some funds so
we can get it re-done. We did what we had to do tonight.”
With 14 goals on the board, eight different Jets contributed.
Senior Brian Robison scored the hat trick for the Jets while freshman
Bryce Robison added two as did senior Marcus Horner.
“It was nice to see the scoring spread around,” said Diceanu. “It
wasn’t so lopsided. I was pleased with the ball movement.”
With the Jets post season success going through the Cincinnati teams,
Franklin Monroe will see one of those teams Saturday starting a 11 am
as Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy will invade the Jets home turf.
“This team beat Yellow Springs 3-2 down there and we tied Yellow
Springs at (Columbus) Crew Stadium the other day,” said Diceanu. “This
will be our first true test against one of the Cincinnati teams. We
need to stand against them because for us to get out of the district,
we have to go through a Cincinnati team.”
