Judge not people
By George Starks
I'm sure by now we have all heard of the tragic incident that involved
Tony Stewart as it is now old news. Its been all over the news,
Facebook and every other news media there is.
Let's try to put this in perspective.
First of all, let's keep both Stewart and the family of Kevin Ward Jr.
in our thoughts and prayers. I'm sure both sides can use the spiritual
support.
Now, I've known Tony since 1990. That was when I first met him at
Winchester Speedway.
Since that day, I have watched him race way too many times, actually
had dinner with him a time or two and was there when he had the news
conference after buying Eldora Speedway from Earl Baltes.
I remember the first time my grandson, Dylan Knoop, met Stewart and
Tony was very diligent in listening to what Dylan had to say in the
pres box that night.
It wasn't long after that, there was a big race at Eldora and Stewart
actually called Dylan, asking him if he was going to be at the races
that night.
In the past 24 years, there is one thing about him that I learned real
fast about him.
He has a short temper.
With that being said, I want to give my thoughts on this.
I have seen more than enough of the Stewart bashers and its quite
sickening.
I have always known that NASCAR fans can be some of the biggest, most
judgmental idiots in the sports world.
The bashers already wants Tony strung up by his toes and crucified
stating that Tony hit the gas and swerved to intentionally hit Ward.
I have read the reports and watched the video of the situation and
what's bring said makes no sense.
In the video, it looked to me like Stewart's car got loose and put
Ward's car into wall...BY ACCIDENT!
To add insult to injury, Ward got out of his car to give Stewart a
piece of his mind.
I never understood why anyone's feelings and would actually get on the
surface of a race track with a bunch of moving cars.
Especially on a short dirt track!
Do we really need to blame Tony for all this?
Granted, he is always in the lime light as a big time driver but it
takes two to tango.
If Ward would have stayed in his machine, he would still be alive to
tell about it.
The racing community has always been a tight knit bunch and instead of
bashing Tony, we should be there in support of both families.
My Bible talks about Jesus stating "He who is without sin may cast the
first stone."
Who are we to make such quick judgments?
Would we make the same judgments if it were our favorite driver?
Let's say it were Kasey Kahne, Ryan Newman or even Trevor Bayne?
Maybe Danica or Kevin Harvic?
Would we be so quick to jump on those drivers?
Whatever happened to "Judge not lest thee be judged"?
