Lady
Railroaders continue to set records Bradford
to play for sectional title today By

BROOKVILLE-
It didn’t take Bradford long to show the Twin Valley South Lady
Panthers, 1-21, it meant business.
Bradford
senior Brooke Dunlevy scored the first six points of the night and 21
points overall as Bradford whipped the Panthers, 64-26.
Before
the start of the sectionals, the Railroaders had already set a school
record with a 17-5 record. That was the most wins in school history
by a girls basketball team.
Now,
19-5, the Roaders set another historical mark with the victory over
South.
On
Saturday, at 1:30, Bradford will play in its first ever girls
sectional.
Bradford
will tangle with the Southeastern Trojans. Southeastern popped Miami
Valley Tuesday, 62-52, earning them the right to battle Bradford.
With
a win Saturday, the Roaders will once again set two records.
One
will be a 20 win season while the second will be the first ever
District appearance.
“These
girls really work hard and this has been a dream of ours,” said
Bradford coach Patrick McKee. “If we can get a win Saturday, that
would be great and we are excited but we have a lot of work to do.”
With
every win, comes a new record and every games becomes bigger for
Bradford.
“Every
game is a new opportunity for us,” acknowledged McKee. “I told
the girls that we’re breaking records right now at our school and
we don’t want those to be broke again but we can’t lose focus of
our goals either. We have to come out and play every night and keep
breaking this record.”
On a
night when Dunlevy led the way, McKee was able to play everyone and
was extremely happy with his reserves.
One
of those reserves came in the form of Lauren Sharp.
The
freshman deposited six points in the Roaders bank in very short
order.
“They
shot the ball extremely well tonight,” said McKee said of his
reserves. “It proved that when they are called on, they come in and
are ready to go.”
After
Dunlevy’s 21, no other player scored in double digits.
“We
had a balanced attack tonight,” said McKee. “We all know what
Dunlevy can do but everyone on this team is capable of getting the
job done. This team has been a blast to coach all year. Not just the
seniors but the whole group. They just like to go out and have fun.
This is not a selfish team at all. We don’t care who scores or get
the rebounds, we just go out and get the job done.”
The
Roaders will go after that record setting 20th win Saturday,
following the sectional title game between Tri-Village-Covington,
starting at noon.
