A thank you to my community
From Devon Eley
A couple of weeks ago, I wrote a sidebar on a young man named Devon
Eley. Eley, a senior at Franklin Monroe was born with Spina Bifida and
was afforded the privilege of getting into a high school basketball
game with Arcanum. On that night, it was a dream come true for Eley.
Recently, Eley wrote a letter, thanking the community for a very
memorable night and asked if I could share it with the over 112
thousand people that read that article. It brought tears to my eyes as
I read it. George Starks
Arcanum Basketball team and Community,
Many of you know me, but some may not.
My name is Devon Eley and I am a senior at Franklin Monroe High School.
I would like to thank all of you who were in attendance on January 10,
2014 for the Arcanum Trojans vs. Franklin Monroe Jets basketball game.
You showed me so much love and support, when I got the chance to play
basketball with my teammates against our friendly rival, the Arcanum
Trojans. This has always been a dream to me to be able to be out on the
court with these guys and play the game I love.
It may not have seemed like much to some people, but to me, it meant
the world.
I would also like to thank the Arcanum basketball team for giving me
that opportunity to play with my teammates on the court.
You guys helped make all this come true, you are truly a "Class Act" in
my book and I respect you all for that. I can't even put into words how
much those two shots meant to me.
I am truly blessed to be a part of this great community and to know
many of you. You guys made this very special for me and I appreciate
that.
Thank you guys for so much and good luck to the Trojans through the
rest of the season and hopefully a good post season.
Thanks,
Devon Eley
