ARCANUM-
Mason Garber netted 19 points and pulled down 10 rebounds with his
counterpart, Collin Hable tacked on 15 more with 10 boards while Kody
Baker netted 15 of is own as Arcanum won its second game in a row.
After
topping Dixie Saturday, the Trojans came home and handed Bradford a
67-37 Cross County Conference loss Tuesday.
It’s
a typical CCC Tuesday night game,” said Gunter. “It’s hard to
get up for these games because they are tough games. Our guys came
out and we really focused on the defensive end. My guys played well
tonight and we got off to a good start,”
Like
a line of Standard Breds, Arcanum came out of the gate at a full
pace, jumping on the Roaders early, going up 8-1.
After
a 30 second break in the action by Bradford coach Jeff Case, the
Roaders started to show some life but trailed 12-6 after one.
By
the end of the first half, the writing was n the wall as Arcanum took
a 34-16 lead into the locker room at the break.
“We
knocked down some good shots tonight but we left a few on the floor,”
Gunter stated. “On defense, we basically played them in the
half-court man and a good effort by everybody. On the offensive end,
we were distributing the basketball well and had a few in double
figures. So overall, it was a good night for us.”
It
was a night when Arcanum coach Brian Gunter was afforded a rare
luxury.
With
nearly three minutes left on the game clock, Gunter started clearing
his bench in an effort to get all his kids in the game.
“We
got everybody in there and they got some good playing time,” Gunter
stated. “We got some great looks and we always try to strive on
transition defense.
For
Bradford, the loss drops them to 2-11 overall and 1-7 in the
conference.
A
record and a night, Case would soon forget.
With
Drew Patty being the lone scorer in double figures with 10, the
Trojan defense shut down senior Brandon Wysong, holding him
scoreless.
“It’s
all about discipline and doing the things we’re supposed to do,”
said Case after the game. “Arcanum is very well coached and are a
good, fundamental team and that’s where we need to get better.”
Turnovers
have been a thorn for the Roaders all season and Tuesday was no
different.
At
games end, Bradford had recorded 20 miscues on the night.
“Turnovers
have been a problem for us every game,” admitted Case. “We’ve
got to learn to take care of the ball better.”
With
the win, the Trojans go to 5-6 (3-2) and will be on the road Saturday
at Riverside. Bradford will host Twin Valley South Friday
