Patriots head east in search of gold

NEW MADISON- On a wet, soggy, dreary day Wednesday, the spirits of the Tri-Village Patriots basketball team was not dampened by the weather.

With state gold in their sights, the Patriots had Knights on their minds as the loaded the bus on their trip to the state capitol, Columbus.

The Patriots will tip-off tonight at 8:30 for the right to play the winner of the other sem-final game to be played between 26-1 Canal Winchester Harvest Prep and the 17-11 Louisville St. Thomas Aquinas starting at 5:15.

Also on Wednesday, Patriots coach Josh Sagester was named as the D-IV Coach of the Year. In his 10th year, Sagester has won 171 games with five sectional titles, three conference titles, two district titles and a regional championship.

In addition, Patriot senior Tyler Cook was named Player of the Year and was named First Team All-Ohio .

Cook averages 19.4 points per game and has scored 1,165 points in his career with 670 rebounds.

Another Patriot, senior Colton Linkous, received Honorable Mention All-Stete.

Franklin Monroe senior Travis Fietshans was named Third Team All-State.
