FM soccer senior humbled

PITSBURG- Recently, Franklin Monroe senior Brian Robison was named
Player of the Year in the Cross County Conference in soccer.
While the FM senior has received many accolades in the past, Robison
was very quick to point certain things out in regards to his award.
“I’m very grateful,” said Robison. “I couldn’t get to where I am
without my team and the coach (Danny Diceanu) and I’m just glad I could
represent FM with this accolade. I am honored but yet I’m
humbled because there are many good players in the
conference and to be picked from all of them is an honor. I’m
surrounded by a lot of good players and because of that, it makes
things easier on me as a player to succeed. When everyone around you is
playing at such a high level it helped me and it helps the future of
the Franklin Monroe soccer program.”
In the past, the Jets has had several outstanding players grace the
field at Franklin Monroe.
Robison knew he was in some great company.
“Being a part of this fraternity is truly an honor,” said Robison.
“We’ve had a lot of great players here in the past and I’m just glad to
be a part of the Franklin Monroe program. With the way the team was
performing this season, I thought I might be considered and I thought
it might come down to me or Marcus (Horner) possibly getting it. I was
extremely happy about getting it. Marcus was one of the first to
congratulate me. ”
In the Franklin Monroe school district, the name of Robison is
synonymous to soccer.
“I had two older brothers that played here, Brett and Brandon,” said
Robison. “I also have a younger brother, Bryce, who plays. My two older
brothers were extremely happy for me and always wanted me to do better
than they did when they were here. I’m honored that they kept pushing
me to be the player that I am and Bryce (a freshman) gave he a hug and
told me he was very proud of me. Soccer is an everyday thing in my
family. We eat, sleep and breathe soccer in my family. Bryce has been
the biggest pusher for me because we try to make each other better all
the time and he’s kept the love of the game with me.”
If Robinson has had one drawback this season, it’s been the fact he’s
played the whole season with a torn ACL.
“I’ve had a torn ACL since June of this year,” said Robison. “I am
going to have it repaired at the end of the season. It’s been a little
bit of a setback but I’ve been able to push through it.”
Robison is looking at Mt. Vernon Nazarene as his school of choice next
fall and hopes to play soccer there.
“They know I have the torn ACL and they are still looking at me,” said
Robison. ”They want me to go to a camp in November but obviously, I
won’t be able to play because of the surgery. I am very humbled about
the fact that they still want me even though I’m having this surgery
now.”
