Wave-Trojans suspended by rain

GREENVILLE - Coming off a 9-3 victory over Troy Monday, the 4-1
Greenville Lady Wave softball team was looking to make it a clean sweep
Wednesday.
That sweep was forced to be decided another day as thunder, lightning
and rain put the game into suspension.
The game was called in the bottom of the sixth in a 1-1 score.
Troy drew first blood against senior pitcher Ally Russell in the fourth.
With two down and Rainy Rohlfs standing at second, drawing a walk to
start the inning off, scored on an RBI single to right for a 1-0 lead.
That lead held up until the bottom of the fifth when junior Ashton
Kester scored from second on a double to right off the bat of freshman
Cassie Cromwell.
Greenville had a rally shortened in the bottom of the sixth by weather.
Junior catcher Jasmine Petry led the inning off with a single to left.
After stealing second, Megan Haines struck out looking, bringing
sophomore Alli Hill to the dish.
Hill had worked a 1-1 count against Troy pitcher Natalie Henson before
play had been suspended.
Both teams will look to resume play Thursday prior to the Lady Wave
home game against Hamilton-Badin.
