GREENVILLE- When it comes to harness racing at the Great Darke County
Fair, it should never come as a surprise to see certain names leading
the way in the winner’s circle. Most notable being that of Darke
County’s, Jeff Nisonger.
The Franklin Monroe graduate posted six victories in 28 races with 19
races on the schedule Friday evening in a five hour marathon of racing
action.
Friday’s action started with a win from Chris Hope in the opening
race of the weekend.
Hope drove Fritas King to the win in 1:57.1, beating out Sand Shark
driven by Doug Ridout and picking up a win in the 14th Saturday evening
driving Northwester Dreams to the win.
Hope would stay quiet the rest of the weekend as Nisonger would make
the majority of the noise.
Nisonger would pick up four wins Friday starting in the third with
Quick Draw Hall. He would carry on in the seventh behind Double A
Diamond, the ninth with Dazzling Diana and the 14th driving Johns Bad
Girl to the line.
Saturday, Nisonger would pick it up again on Saturday with wins in the
first and seventh as the last one came behind Swan of the Sea as
he won by a nose over Dangerous Dave and Doug Rideout.
With Nisonger heading to Lexington to race Saturday night, it was Dan
Noble’s turn to take the spotlight.
Noble would get wins is the first (Crosswinds Cupcake), Crosswinds
Dodger in the third, Cade Ricky in the fifth, Little Woody in the
eighth and All Marks Go in the 11th.
With several races being tightly contested, the highlight race happened
in the ninth race Saturday night.
With all drivers looking to set track records, Hunter Myers came close
with Harvard’s Z Tam in a conditioned pace.
Myers missed the mark by just over a second coming home in a time of
1:54.4
