The Lady Tiger
Bowlers Finish 3rd in WOHSBC Conference
The Lady Tigers dominated their last match of the year on Saturday
beating LCC T-Birds 2172 to 1047 at 20th Century Lanes in
Lima. Due to weather conditions the match was shortened to just 2
regular games and 2 baker games to make it an official match allowing
all to get home safe. The Lady Tigers came out firing on all cylinders
the first game winning 913 to 464.
“This was the high game of the year for the team” said Coach Phlipot,
“the girls did a really nice job picking up spares and bowling together
as a team.” The Tigers did not let up in the second game, winning 834
to 424. The girls did a nice job throwing good first shots
and picking up easy spares. Sometimes when you have that big of a
margin it’s hard to stay focused.
“I was happy with how the girls stayed focused on what they had to do,”
said Coach Phlipot. Leading the way for the Tigers was Megan Ward
(184), Hannah Niekamp (182-213), Olivia Bruening (190), Crystal
Hartzel(191), and Maggie Hedrick (195). “Going into the baker games I
told the girls to bowl as a team and have fun,” said Coach Phlipot. The
Tigers did just that rolling 181 and 244 missing the school record by
only 14 pins for the second baker game.
The last couple of weeks the girls have been working hard on their
spare game and baker’s games and today the hard work paid off. The
girls are starting to believe in themselves and realize how good they
can be. We are starting to peak at the right time as we have
Sectional’s coming up this Wednesday at Marion Lanes in Huber Heights.
There are 25 teams in our sectional with only the top 11 teams and
individual’s advancing to next week’s Districts. This is one of the
toughest Sectional’s and Districts in the state with teams like
Mechanicsburg (State Champs) last year, Urbana and Kenton Ridge. There
is no doubt if the girls can bowl like they have been the last couple
of weeks we have a very good shot at making it to State. To view the
