Arcanum- Trailing 14-13 after one quarter of play to Arcanum, Greenville used a 16-4 second quarter run to lead the Wave to a 62-43 victory over the Trojans.

While the score looked lopsided, the Trojans were able to win two of the four quarters, taking the opening quarter by one point and the third by a 16-13 score.

Greenville coach Mike Bayshore gave high praise to Arcanum and Coach Bixler.

“Our fans though this was going to be a blow out,” said Bayshore. “We knew better than that. Coach Bixler does a great job over here with his kids and I thought his kids played really well tonight. The second quarter really put them behind the eight ball a little bit and helped get us a little bit of a lead that we were able to hold onto.”

With the Wave putting three in double figures, led by senior Cody Preston with 15 points, it was the Greenville big men that did the job on the boards.

“Our bigs do a good job on the boards for us,” said Bayshore. “They allow us to get out and get down on the break and for the most part, we did a good job controlling the boards Their big kids (Connor Pohl and Collin Habel) do a good job inside and we had our hands full at times tonight. This isn’t an easy place to play in front of a packed house. It was their hall of fame night … they were juiced up.””

Greenville’s 12 point run in the second and a 20-9 score in the fourth was just more than the Trojans could handle.

Through it all, Arcanum coach Marcus Bixler was not unhappy with the effort of his offense.

“We won two of the four quarters tonight,” Bixler said. “We came out and played real well the first quarter. We shot real well the first quarter. We were able to get some stops. Our community support has been unbelievable,” Arcanum coach Marcus Bixler said. “Our crowds have been awesome. They’ve been into it. They have been intense. The kids love it. Our players's talk about it. They enjoy it so I am happy for them. We knew it was going to be a tough matchup. It’s hard to guard them in the post, it’s hard to keep them off the glass, and most important it’s hard to get back in defensive transition. They push the ball so well, and they are so unselfish in their offense. That makes it very hard to guard.”

Arcanum and Greenville will play again on Friday. The Trojans will play at Mississinawa Valley and Greenville will go to Sidney.
