Speedfest Equals Exciting, Heart Pounding Racing
UMP Modifieds and Eldora Stock Cars Return With Vores Compact Touring
Series; Tickets Just $12; Kids Under 12 Free!
ROSSBURG, Ohio (April 21, 2016) – After a gorgeous 65-degree evening at
Eldora Speedway’s 63rd season opener last Saturday night, two racing
divisions return and third will be coming for the first time since 2012.
Saturday Night Speedfest is set for Saturday, April 23 and will see the
return of UMP Modifieds and a double feature for the Eldora stock cars.
David Mielke, from Gladwin, Michigan, started fifth to win last week’s
UMP Modified race, while Paul Pardo won the stock car show.
Pardo, from New Paris, Ohio, has won three straight Eldora stock car
A-Mains, dating back to last August.
The Vores Compact Touring Series will return to Eldora for the first
time since the 2012 season. Last week the series raced at Anderson
(Ind.) Speedway with Jeff Williams scoring a victory in the 30 lap
A-Main.
Admission gates will open at 4 p.m. (EDT), with hot laps 5 p.m. and a
complete racing program beginning at 6 p.m. Tickets can be bought
at www.EldoraSpeedway.com, by phone at (937) 338-3815 or at the box
office at the race track. It’s $12 for adults and kids 12 and under are
free.
Last Saturday was a wild night for the UMP Modifieds at Eldora as
several drivers thought they could challenge Mielke for the win.
Evan Taylor, from Saltsburg, Pennsylvania, was running second in the
A-Main, but clipped the wall in turn three early in the race and was
done for the night. Ryan Sutter, an early leader, was running third but
was collected in a wreck involving Scott Williams which took him out of
contention.
There was a five car pileup on the first lap in turns three and four
and Collin Thirlby, from Traverse City, Michigan, flipped his car. And
in the third heat race earlier in the night, Jason Kenney, from Celina,
Ohio, took a violent flip on the frontstetch.
Pardo started fifth in the A-Main of the stock car division, but took
the lead in turn one from Donnie Jeschke and never looked back.
The Vores Compact Touring Series debuted at Eldora with an exhibition
race in late 2011. They raced at Eldora in 2012 and are returning this
Saturday. Steve Vore of Vores Welding & Steel in in nearby Fort
Recovery, Ohio is the series founder.
The cars are front wheel drive compact cars with either four or six
cylinders.
The complete schedule for Eldora’s 63nd consecutive season, including
ticket and campsite information, is available at www.EldoraSpeedway.com.
