Jets crash hard
in sectional loss
By George Starks
CLAYTON- Franklin Monroe boys basketball coach Troy Meyers had no
comments for the attending press Wednesday after the Jets loss to Anna.
Then again, what could he say?
Playing in the second round of a sectional it had no business playing
in to begin with (D-III), Franklin Monroe was more than overwhelmed by
the Anna Rockets in an 85-38 loss.
On a night when it seemed like the cards were stacked against them
right from the opening tp, the Rockets seized control of the game
early, jumping out to a 13-0 lead early.
Franklin Monroe final got on the board with a trey from senior Bradey
Hessler with 3:35 left in the opening quarter.
By the end of the frame, the Rockets were well in control, leading 18-6
after one.
If the jackrabbit start by Anna wasn’t enough, the Jets were given more
insult to their injury at the 4:37mark of the opening frame.
With Anna up 9-0 and looking to add more, an FM player stood in the
paint, looking to take a charge.
The obvious offensive foul was committed but the whistle never blew.
Reacting as any coach should, Myers got irate with the official for not
blowing the whistle.
Meyers received a technical foul for his efforts, adding some
unnecessary insult.
With Meyers forced to sit the bench the rest of the way, things would
never get better for Franklin Monroe.
The Jets trailed 48-20 at the intermission and 66-31 after three
quarters of play, marking the end of the season for the fans in
Pitsburg.
Senior Zach Hyre exited his final game with 10 points as the Jets were
led on the floor by Hesler with 15 tallies.
