Johnson earns OCCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week

Springfield, Ohio---Trevor Hafner, Marcus Johnson, Serena Tucciarelli
and McKailyn Woodward have earned player and pitcher of the week
recognition in the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC)
for games played March 21-26.
OCCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Marcus Johnson,
Edison C.C.
Johnson, a freshman left-handed pitcher for Edison, tossed a
five-inning no-hit shutout against Ohio University - Chillicothe. He
struck out seven and allowed just two walks.
In 7.2 innings this year, Johnson is 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA. He has 13
strikeouts and just five walks. Edison is 7-4 overall.
OCCAC Baseball Player of the Week
Trevor Hafner,
Sinclair C.C.
Hafner, a freshman shortstop, batted 9-for-19 (.474) with six runs,
three doubles, one triple, six RBI, three walks and three stolen bases
over five games. He had two hits in four of his five games.
Hafner has helped lead Sinclair to a 16-4 record to start the 2017
campaign. He is hitting 21-for-61 (.344) with 16 runs, six doubles, two
triples, two home runs, 21 RBI, seven walks and five stolen bases with
a .417 on base percentage and a .607 slugging percentage.
OCCAC Softball Player of the Week
Serena Tucciarelli,
Cuyahoga C.C.
Tucciarelli, a sophomore shortstop, batted 9-for-16 (.563) with seven
runs, three doubles, nine RBI and one stolen base over four games last
week.
Cuyahoga has opened the season 12-7 overall. Tucciarelli is batting
19-for-64 (.297) with 18 runs, nine doubles, one home run, 19 RBI,
three walks and four stolen bases. She also has a .328 on base
percentage and a .484 slugging percentage.
OCCAC Softball Pitcher of the Week
McKailyn Woodward,
Lakeland C.C.
In two appearances, Woodward went 2-0 over 12 innings while allowing
seven hits, five runs (two earned) and two walks. She struck out 14 as
her team defeated Walsh University JV and Kent State University -
Tuscarawas.
Woodward, a freshman pitcher, is now 5-0 this year with a 1.62 ERA over
30.1 innings with 30 strikeouts and 13 walks. Lakeland is 8-2 overall
to start the season.
