HOPE 4 TOMORROW
By Christy Riley

1
i tried and I tried
Time and time again
To get it right
Yet try as I might
I just keep on missing
The mark and I’m always
Flying off short of
The mark set off for me . . .

All of my life
Has been waiting for such
A moment like this
When all my dreams
Are realized and I hope for
A tomorrow full of dreams
Still within the reach of
All my future still not here. . .

2
oh for today,
Oh for tomorrow,
Oh for yesterday,
All my dreams . . .
All my hopes . . .
All my future . . .
Today I hope for my future
Where all my hopes
And all my desires
Are still yet in the making
So then I smile
Because I know there’s
Always and sill will be
Hope for tomorrow
For the promise
Of yesterday always remains . . .

3
oh for today and for yesterday
Hope will always remain
And so hope for tomorrow
Shall last no matter
How long the night
May last even then
Do I have hope
Still yet for a
Day not yet here . . . . .

4
so as tomorrow dawns
As my future readily
Arrives on the horizon
Of the setting sun does ‘morrow
Still then do I
Smile because I know
Your love always and shalln’t ever
Falter for me . . .
For tomorrow
  For yesterday
      And for today

Oh for on the ‘morrow is hope
Enough to last through the long night
And so I’ll smile because everything
Will somehow and someway be
Just alright for me and for you.
Still then am I always hoping
And praying for a new day
As I continue to
Be living for today
With the promise of tomorrow
On wings of grace of yesterday.

For my Friend

By Christy Riley

Side by side do we walk
With your hand in mine,
As we make the great walk of faith
Not separate or alone
Together just the way
It should be…
And side by side,
When I need you most of all,
God knows,
You’ll be there
A drop of a dime,
For you know
Ya will always be my friend
During the tear stained moments
When hugs were all
I needed,
You poured out your heart
With simple acts of devoted trust,
Ya knew we were
To be, friends always and forever.

REMEMBER ME

just a face in the crowd
numbering the thousands;
purpose and reason,
so much love and life,
much to live for-too short of time,
why so dreadfully early
to leave so much behind?

Only 24 Hours

1Another day in the life
Gotta get it written down
In black and white
For something more in life
Than just day in and day out
Of work, school, home, eat,
Watch T.V., eat, sleep, and
Repeat 7x times more 24 hrs.

2every day is a new day
Full of discovery
And adventure
Awaits me on the horizon.
Hope fills me and yet
I’m faced with there being
Too much to do
Yet not enough time…
‘Cause there’s 24 hours a day
And only 60 minutes a hour
And only 60 seconds a minute
And only so on and so forth…
Only so many hours in a day
And only so many days in a week…
So let me make the most
Of the seven days a week,
Of the 28 to 31 days a month,
Of the 365 some days a year,
And make this time count for something.

3*sunrise, sunset
    Day starts
    Night arises
A new and fresh
    Do I rise each day
Yet a new beginning
    Second chance
To get it right
    This time around.
*choices and chances
    So many decisions to make
Yet so little time to
    Get it all done in.
424 hours is not nearly enough to get it all done
    Truly more time
And hours in one day
    Would be almost enough
To get it all done.

*Time is not at my disposal
So I have to make with what time
I have and value
    What I have
Cause in one second
    It all could be gone
Just like that.

5*Life isn’t always so kind
    Nothing is forever
Got to make the most
    Of what I have
And treasure every moment
As if it were my last.

Instead of this assigned time set aside
For this and that
No knowledge of as to how
To figure it all out.
so much to do and be done
But oh there’s too little time in which
To get it all done in.
