The Wind swept its soul across the town,
and watched as the people
gave him disgusted looks in passing.

He had been around
long enough
to know that only small children
appreciated his presence,

although sidewalks occasionally
tipped their worn hats
to his methods of cleaning their many faces.

He had been around
long enough
to see how raptors used his Currents
as an agent when they snatched up prey,
and many trees near homes meant his breath wasn’t wanted.

But what were Homes to the Wind?

What was Home to an Unseen?

He had been around
long enough
to notice the times when he simply
wasn’t
there.
