“I Solemnly Swear
that I am Up to No Good”

On Thursday, July 14th. The madness began.
Parties were held, theaters prepared, frantic fans scrambled in this
last attempt to show their support for the stories that have swept the
nation for fourteen years. That series is none other than Harry Potter.
With the conclusion to the movie adaptation having drawn to a close at
no earlier than 2:50 a.m. on Friday morning, there were many
opportunities for fans to get together in their ‘Houses’ for one last
time. Greenville’s Library took the liberty to set up one of these
parties for young and older alike to join in.
Rhonda Peebles, the advisor to the Young Adult program at the library,
set up the Last (?) Harry Potter Party on Thursday, July 14th at 6:30
p.m. Visitors were treated to a fun and cool way to beat the heat - all
the while celebrating their favorite book series and anticipating the
movie release.
When visitors arrived, they were asked to put their name into the
‘Sorting Hat’ for a drawing for prizes later on. They then could choose
to craft a Death Eaters mask, or a Chocolate Frog box. Traditional
wizarding food was set out: pumpkin pasties, dragon claws, and pumpkin
juice. At the end of the party, each person left with their very own
Chocolate Frog, complete with a Wizard’s Card.
A trivia contest also took place and prizes were handed out to the
according winners. Bookmarks, posters, and the last Harry Potter book
were the prizes available.
After the party ended at nearing 8:00 p.m., many anxiously awaited the
midnight release to the movie. And according to critic feedback, along
with the nearly half a billion dollars on the opening weekend, Harry
Potter 7.2 was a truly amazing film.
