Darke County Teen Scribes...
Springtime

By Christy L. Riley

For some spring does not come until mid-April; fortunately or unfortunately depending upon who you ask, spring has arrived to stay. People can be found walking everywhere. Spring is in the air as the birds are singing, flowers blooming, and signs of new life apparent for all to see.

Bern Williams once said, “The day the Lord created hope was probably the same day he created Spring.”

Here are some quotes: thoughts of an early spring. Like it or like it not. They tell of what they are doing differently than before...

In describing spring, Elizabeth Bowen said, “Autumn arrives in early morning, but spring at the close of a winter day.”

Brenda said, “Too hot, too quick. Enjoy getting out. Mowed the yard already. Put a hummingbird feeder out. Been out walking the dog since it got warm.”

Gustave Flaubert once said, “Love is a springtime plant that perfumes everything with its hope, even the ruins to which it clings.”

“I love that spring has come early this year and of course I am enjoying it! Zane [my son] and I have been playing outside every day, where last year we would have been complaining about the cold and trying to think of different ways to run out of energy,” Allyson said.

Sitting Bull put it best when he said of spring, “Behold, my friends, the spring is come; the earth has gladly received the embraces of the sun, and we shall soon see the results of their love!”

David said, “It’s wonderful. Hope it lasts. Already said, wonderful. Yes, I definitely like it. I’d say we are at least a month or more than that as far as temperatures go.”

Regardless of the time of year or even the season of life you are in as of now; know that when springtime does come may you welcome chances for new life. For in the springtime, the dead and barrenness leftover from winter will pass away. It is in dying that we then learn how to live once again; only then can new life spring up from a well of hope everlasting.

“Our Lord has written the promise of resurrection, not in books alone, but in every leaf in springtime,” once said by Martin Luther.
