Teen
Revival…
Time
to put our Faith in Action

Though
the new school year is approaching very quickly, we teens of Darke
County are
not yet finished with our summer. Most teenagers this week are probably
finishing out their summer with wild parties and who knows what else,
but not
us revivalists! We are finishing out our summer with prayer and
evangelism.
What do I mean by this? Well in one of my past articles, I wrote about
how
people from my youth group, The Corner Shack, are going to get together
and go
from school to school as we pray for revival in each Darke County
school. We
are not 100% sure that this will end up happening before the school
year
actually begins, however I can assure you that it will be happening
soon. We
have been praying for revival in these schools all year at events like
Saturday
Night Prayer, and God has been very faithful to our prayers. Now we are
ready
to take it to the next step and actually go to these specific schools
and pray
over each of them. (Hopefully including the middle schools as well if
they are
in separate buildings.)
You
have heard from a few people in other articles who are ready to take
the
revival that is in their hearts and put it into action in their school.
We have
revivalists in Greenville, Tri-Village, Arcanum, Ansonia, Versailles,
Franklin
Monroe, you name it! Let me remind you that this revival is huge, and
our
teenage generation will not hesitate to make it spread even further
than county
wide. We are hoping to start Youth for Christ's Friend2Friend program
in each
of these schools, which may take a couple years but with lots of prayer
and
with our teen revivalists stepping up, we'll get there.
Now
that I've covered most of the prayer part, I will explain what I mean
about
finishing out our summer with evangelism. Unfortunately, something that
is very
uncommon for teenagers is evangelizing. It's not easy to share the
Christian
gospel with others at a young age. Many teens lack confidence in their
faith
and are uneasy when it comes to sharing the gospel. This is why it's
very
important to equip our teens to be able to boldly go out into the world
and
share the gospel with whoever needs to hear it. This past Saturday we
discussed
the topic of evangelizing at Saturday Night Prayer. We usually
have approximately a half hour message that is given
at the end of
Prayer, and this one could be considered a tough pill to swallow. I'll
explain.
As
many of us enjoy spending this week at The Great Darke County Fair, we
will
most likely be doing things like walking around, visiting with friends,
eating
fair food, playing games, riding rides, etc. And though I'm sure many
of the
teens I've been talking about will be doing these things, we will be
adding something
new to spice up the fair: prayer and evangelism. I have already
challenged our
Saturday Night Prayer group to pray and look for opportunities to
invite others
to Prayer. Their challenge was rather simple; pray for opportunities to
invite
people to Prayer, and ask at least one person if they'd like to go. Now
just to
inform you, this article was written on Friday, and you
have received it
on Sunday, which means that by the time you've read this,
we've already
had Saturday Night Prayer.
The
good news is, we teens have all week to look
for opportunities to
minister to others and evangelize when necessary, and The Darke County
Fair is
the perfect place to do it. Not only were the teens challenged to
invite
someone to Saturday Night Prayer, but they were also challenged to seek
opportunities to reach out, witness, evangelize, and minister to others
this
week. It's time to put out faith into action and finish our summer out
right.
