Teen Revival
They are an
inspiration to me
By Kalista’s Mom
I am writing an article for Kalista this week. This is her mother, and
I am sitting in my kitchen watching the snow fall the day after
Christmas. Kalista is on her way to Guatemala for her mission trip with
other teens from EUM. I just heard from her a little while ago during
her layover in Atlanta. It was just a brief text letting me know she
was there and getting ready to board the plane to her destination where
she and the other teens will be ministering to families that actually
live and somehow survive off the city dump.
I know Kalista will come back with a changed attitude about the
materialistic society that we live in and to which we are accustomed.
If you are someone who financially supported any of the teens –thank
you. If you didn’t know about this trip or were not about to
financially support them, please pray for them as they are ministering
in Guatemala.
I remember when I was a little girl, and a missionary came to my
church. He stated that when you are an American and get off a plane in
a third-world country, it doesn’t matter who you are or how much you
make in America, you are a millionaire to those people who live there.
We take so much for granted in our daily lives. However, I have become
more aware recently of just how much a spirit of thankfulness is not
only important but also vital to our spiritual condition!
Psalm 100:4 tells us to “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and
his courts with praise! Give thanks to him, bless his name!” If
you are in need of an attitude change, I encourage you to take on a
spirit of thankfulness and just see if that doesn't make all the
difference in the coming New Year!
Furthermore, may we as adults follow the example of these teenagers and
GO make a difference by meeting physical and spiritual needs in the
lives of those less fortunate. I am so thankful for a daughter who
desires to look outside her own selfish interests to the need of
others. She and the other teens who have given up their Christmas
breaks are an inspiration to me! How about you?
