Teen Revival
We will stand firm
By Kalista King

Due to lack of time and preparation for this week's article, I would like to keep this one rather short and sweet. I have one simple goal I would like to achieve in  this article, and that goal is to awaken you to the constant battle that is and has been going on with teens all over the world who are seeking The Lord.

I have spoken with many teens this week who are very passionate about their faith, yet have been getting more and more distractions and temptations thrown at them through relationships. And when I say relationships, I don't mean the casual friendships or the every day acquaintances, I mean the boyfriend/girlfriend type of relationships that can become so quickly and easily distracting.

I don't think I have ever written an article like this before, in which I am telling you a specific struggle that we as teens have been facing recently. This "relationship" topic seems to be getting more and more popular with the teenagers I have been around and talked to over the past few weeks. I think at such a young age, it is very easy to fall too quickly for relationships because teens want to find "true love" and their "soul mate" without having to wait.

Personally, I do not like "mooshy gooshy" or as I call them, "lovey dovey," topics like this. However, I felt it was necessary for me to address this topic and share this specific battle that many teens are facing right now.

From personal experience, I have learned that Satan is very good at playing with our weaknesses to hinder us from pursuing God with all our hearts. Unfortunately in high school, not being in a relationship is very uncommon. To the majority of teens, making the decision to not date in high school is completely absurd. I am not saying that dating in high school is wrong, however, what I have figured out is that as if it weren't hard enough to pursue God with so many distractions of "the teen life," adding a boyfriend to the mix is not the best idea.

I have talked to many teenagers recently who are beginning to realize that it is far too easy to shift focus from God to relationships depending on how much attention you are giving to one or the other. This is not a new battle that teens are facing, but I do believe that the enemy is using this as one of his main tools in distracting the teens who are trying to follow The Lord.

My point is not only to make you aware of this battle going on, but to ask for your prayers to shut down the enemy and reawaken teens to the greatness of God's love so they are not seeking love and affection from others. I am hoping that The Lord will raise up one of the teens in this battle to share their struggle on this topic with you so you can get a better understanding of how serious this really is.

Hopefully next week's article can correspond with this one in regard to the constant struggle of teen purity in relationships. Expect to hear from one these teens next week and pray with me in the meantime that we will remain victorious in this battle!

"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." -Ephesians 6:12.

Satan can try to bring us down, but we will stand firm because we are more than conquerors through Christ. Thank you for listening and praying.
