Kenneth Delano Spitzer, age 85, of Versailles passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2025 at his home.
Kenneth was born on August 10th, 1940, in Duff, Tennessee to parents Ralph and Chloe Spitzer. Kenneth was a dedicated and hard-working man who worked for Sheller-Globe in Union City for 31 years, Corning in Greenville for 7 years, and he capped his career with 7 enjoyable years as a train conductor for the Indiana-Ohio Railroad. In his working life, Kenneth exemplified the value of arriving early, prioritizing punctuality at work and in life. Kenneth possessed a keen eye for discovering hidden treasures at yard sales, thrift stores, and antique shops, transforming this gift for recognizing overlooked value into a cherished pastime. He had a passion for fishing, taking yearly trips to lakes in his home state of Tennessee. He was also an avid golfer and softball player, eventually becoming an umpire and then Darke County Softball commissioner.
Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents as well as his brothers Von Spitzer, Don (Peggy) Spitzer, Keith Spitzer, Sisters Larenna Spitzer, Reba (Chester) Richmond, Shelvia Mock, and brother-in-law Charles Smith.
Kenneth leaves behind his wife, Joyce Spitzer, whom he married on June 2, 1962; they spent 63 wonderful years together. Kenneth is survived by his children: Steven (Pam) Spitzer, Leanne Hughes, Randy Spitzer, and Kenneth W (Jennette) Spitzer. He is also survived by his brother Errol (Linda) Spitzer, sister Nell Rose Smith, brother-in-law Norman Mock and sisters-in-law Shirley Spitzer and Ruth Spitzer. Kenneth leaves behind many grandchildren: John Spitzer, Stacy (CJ) Simmons, Joshua Hughes, Jordan Hughes and Matt Ellis, Chloe Spitzer, Sarah Spitzer, and Ethan, Tom, and RJ. He is survived by his great grandchildren, Jackson and Kylie Simmons and Allison Joyce Ellis. Kenneth is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
