Safely Dispose of Unwanted Prescription Drugs
On Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Darke County Sheriff’s Department, in partnership with Darke County Family Health, Darke County Solid Waste, and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), will host a free Prescription Drug Take Back Event.
Location:
Darke County Family Health Pharmacy
5735 Meeker Rd., Greenville, OH
This event provides a safe, convenient, and anonymous way for the public to dispose of expired, unused, or unwanted prescription medications. No questions asked!
What You Can Bring
- Accepted: Pills and tablets (please place in a zipper bag; labels not required).
- Not Accepted: Creams, powders, liquids, needles, or sharps.
Why It Matters
Unused medications left in home cabinets are at risk of being misused, stolen, or abused. Improper disposal—such as flushing or throwing them in the trash—also creates safety and environmental hazards. This initiative helps protect both public health and the environment.
Ongoing Safe Disposal Options
For year-round convenience, permanent drug drop-boxes are available:
- City of Greenville Police Department
- Darke County Sheriff’s Office
These containers are accessible 24/7 for the safe disposal of unwanted medications.
