
This fall, on Election Day, our school district will have an operational renewal levy on the ballot. This levy will have no new taxes but is simply the renewal of an existing 5.50 mill tax levy that has been in existence since 1996.
The levy has been successfully renewed seven times since it was first approved by voters in March 1996. It generates approximately $2.59 million annually and is critical to supporting the daily operations of our schools.
Funds from this levy are used for:
- District maintenance
- School buses
- Textbooks
- Technology
- Salaries
- And other essential operational needs
The levy does not increase with inflation and therefore results in no change to your current tax rate. It also allows qualifying residents to continue receiving the homestead reduction.
The Board of Education has approved placing this renewal levy on the November ballot for a new five-year cycle. We encourage all residents to make their voices heard.
