
Greenville – Greenville Business & Professional Women’s Club (BPW) member Shelly Acker was the guest speaker at the November 13, 2025 meeting which was held at the ‘I Am Well Foundation” in Greenville. The committee consisted of Chair Stacy Sykes members Desteni Mason, Leah Dumas, Dorothy Poeppelman and Shelly Acker.
Shelly Acker, RRT, BS, LMT was introduced by committee member Stacy Sykes. Shelly is a lifelong advocate for Whole Person Wellness with over 40 years of experience in healthcare and community well-being. She is the Founder and Owner of Imagine Living, LLC and the Co-Founder and current Board President of the I Am Well Foundation, a nonprofit established in 2021 with a mission of Whole Person Wellness for Everybody. Shelley shared that the I Am Well Foundation provides education, connection to resources and one on one experiences designed to empower individuals to take charge of their own well-being. Guided by the Whole Person Centered Optimal Health & Wellness Model, the foundation works to promote, connect, implement, and support wellness practices that address the body, mind, spirit, and emotional self.
The foundation has aspirations of growing nationally with local chapters. I am Well Darke County is the first chapter. In Darke County they provide education, connections and engagement in the community. Provider partners offer yoga, essential oils, chiropractic, massages, Refit, Thai Yoga massage, sound integration and more. ‘Celebrate You Saturdays’ are offered the first Saturday of each month with a variety of wellness topics and experiences. The website “I Am Well Foundation’ provides educational opportunities through the Healthy You Dashboard. One of the topics is occupational fulfillment. Acker emphasized the importance of occupational fulfillment, reminding us that well-being is multidimensional. She also highlighted the need for emotional support, Shelly asked everyone to identify three people that you can go to for help and to utilize the national mental health and crisis line by dialing or texting 988 as a resource when needed. She also emphasized that Wellness basics and self-care include: hydration, being aware of what you are feeding yourself physically and mentally, noticing changes in your body, and asking yourself, “what is it that you need?;
The November BPW meeting focuses on the Business & Professional Women’s Individual Development Program which was developed to further enhance leadership and communication skills for working women. A state-wide speak-off competition is held for those who have completed the course.
The Greenville BPW Club’s mission is to achieve equity for all women in the workplace through advocacy, education, and information. The Club holds fundraisers through the year to raise money to grant scholarships to the young women of Darke County. They meet the second Thursday of every month for a dinner meeting.
