COLUMBUS – Recently, the Ohio State Highway Patrol joined forces with members of the 6-State Trooper Project to reduce unsafe driving behaviors along the Interstate 70 corridor. The high-visibility campaign ran from Friday, October 4, through Sunday, October 6, and included the Indiana State Police, Pennsylvania State Police and the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
During the initiative, Ohio troopers issued citations for 325 speeding violations, 22 safety belt violations and made four OVI arrests. In total, among the three states participating in the initiative, 682 citations were issued for speeding, 47 citations for safety belt violations and 19 OVI arrests were made.
The 6-State Trooper Project is a multi-state law enforcement partnership aimed at providing combined and coordinated law enforcement and security services in the areas of highway safety, criminal patrol and information sharing.
Other members of the 6-State Trooper Project include the Kentucky State Police, Michigan State Police and West Virginia State Police.
