Despite smaller budgets and risk appetite, midsize businesses still have critical technology needs on their way to business growth.
Technology can help employees reach business goals no matter the size of the organizations. For midsized businesses, most if not all of the challenges related to IT projects and tech growth are related to resource limitations, according to Mike Cisek, VP analyst at Gartner.
“Making the right strategic and tactical decisions from a technical perspective is critical to execution at scale and avoiding wasted cycles and dollars,” Cisek said in an email.
Despite investments in cloud platforms, including SaaS, PaaS and IaaS, over half of midsize enterprise infrastructure spend will continue to be non-cloud based through 2025, according to the report.
Midsize organizations aren’t immune to the cost issues that large organizations face when innovating via technology, but they do have a smaller purse. This is especially true during economic uncertainty.
During the pandemic, nearly half of small-to-midsize businesses planned to defer or cut their investments in software, according to GetApp data.
“Businesses and IT teams with a finite pool of resources [need] to have [a] clear plan to address business priorities such as improving customer satisfaction, resilience, innovation and growth – all while mitigating risk,” Cisek said.
