APRIL 28, 1943 – OCTOBER 30, 2022
Nola “Cathy” Mae Nixon passed away peacefully and quietly in her sleep on October 30, 2022, at the age of 79 in Eaton, Ohio. She was born to the late Otis and Florence Fugate Napier on April 28, 1943, in Hazard, Kentucky.
Nola met the love of her life, Russell R. Nixon on a blind date and married soon after on May 18, 1964. They were married for 34 years before Russ’ passing in 1998. Together they had four children. Nola retired from Norgren Mosier in 2010 after 34 years of service.
In life and health, Nola enjoyed working in her flower beds and taking care of her beautiful home in Wayne Lakes, Ohio. Those who knew her knew of her love for the Cincinnati Reds, lottery scratch-off tickets, WONE radio, “quick” trips to Walmart, watching Soap Operas, and the old music greats, Elvis Presley, Conway Twitty, and Vince Gill, just to name a few. She was full of spunk, wit, and personality. She was loved dearly and respected greatly by her family.
Nola is survived by her four children, Gary Nixon (Kelley), Donna Brookshire (Darrell), Greg Nixon (Amanda), and Deborah Nixon; sister, Martha Harrison of Lexington, KY; nine grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Russell R. Nixon, parents Otis and Florence Napier, and siblings, Jesse, Brack, Ruby, Charlie, Chester, and Brock.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm Thursday, November 3, 2022, at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Fort Jefferson. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association.
