Mercer Savings Bank Giving Mission Spotlight: New Madison Volunteer Fire Department

This month’s Mercer Savings Bank Giving Mission recipient is the New Madison Volunteer Fire Department. The department has 27 members and covers 97 square miles in southern Darke County.

The all-volunteer department also covers Butler Township, as well as portions of Neave and Harrison Townships. Their equipment includes five engines and one medium-duty rescue truck.

According to Fire Chief Scoob Cook, the funds will be used toward building a training house where new and experienced firefighters alike can stay updated on the latest equipment and techniques.

The department also sponsors a number of community programs throughout the year, including a photos with Santa event, golf outing, chicken BBQ, and public safety awareness.
