GREENVILLE – As the go-live date approaches for Evergreen, Greenville Public Library’s new computer system, staff are busy learning all the fun and exciting features that will be available with this update.
While most things will remain the same, like loan periods and the number of materials allowed out at a time, the patron’s browsing experience will be enhanced by lots of new search features. One of the most anticipated is the addition of Aspen, the patron portal to our library catalog.
Aspen will allow you to search and request materials from other Aspen libraries from the comfort of your own device. Aspen libraries include Arcanum, Covington, and Versailles locally, as well as five others statewide. These materials can be placed on hold just like any other GPL materials, and they will automatically be shipped to our library for you to pick up. This feature will be available in-house at our kiosks or by stopping at the Circulation or Reference Desks.
Evergreen is scheduled to go-live on Thurs., Dec. 4. Beginning on Dec. 1, our old system will begin to be phased out, so patrons are encouraged to renew materials due during this time early or keep ahold of them until after the 4th.
Another change during this week to be aware of is that all account passwords will be reset to the last four digits of the patron’s phone number. This new password will need to be entered to access your Libby account during the transition but can be changed after the go-live date.
For more information, or anyone with concerns about this transition period can call the library at (937) 548-3915.
