Domestic Disturbance

January 8

GPD responded at 11:47 PM to 201 Warren St. upper apartment on a domestic disturbance.

Upon the officer’s arrival, Kyley Ann Magill could be heard yelling loudly. The officer entered the residence and learned that she was there picking up her property from Lloyd’s residence. The two were no longer in a relationship, did not reside together, and had no children together. Magill continued to yell while the officers were there but was able to obtain most of her property and was advised to call the police department for a keep the peace if she needed to return to the residence for the rest.

Child Removal

January 10

On January 10th, 2023, Officer Joseph Wolfe responded to the Darke County Court House, 504 South Broadway Street, to meet with Darke County Children Services reference a child removal. Upon his arrival, he made contact with Teresa Maples with Children Services. Maples advised that both Jeremey and Sarah Burkhart had came to the court house to file Protection Orders against each other. Maples stated that due to both subjects appearing to be under the influence, the court requested that they submit to a drug test. Maples advised that both tested positive for multiple narcotics in their systems including fentanyl, ecstasy, cocaine and amphetamine. Maples advised that due to both subjects testing positive today, it was decided to remove the children from their care and into the care of Children Services. Jeremy and Sarah Burkhart were advised of the decision to have the children removed from their care. P.O. Daugherty, Sgt. Boyer, and officer Wolfe then went to 215 Tillman Avenue with Maples to remove the
children. Once there, they made contact with Ava Burkhart who was already aware of the situation. Ava advised that she understood and helped get both child victim 1 and child victim 2 ready to go with Maples. Both children were able to be removed without incident. Maples advised that the baby, child victim 3, was being cared for by Brooke Ferguson. Maples advised that she would contact Brooke and have her bring the baby to children services and that the P.O. would not be needed for that removal. Maples advised that the plan was to place the children with family if possible but that they would have to go through their process.

Warrants

January 11

On January 11 2023, at approximately 1:55 PM, PO Wolfe was on routine patrol when he observed a subject who he knew as Christopher Blackford in the parking lot of Speedway, 201 Wagner Avenue. He ran Blackford through LEADS/NCIC and found that he had an active warrant for his arrest through the Preble County Sheriff’s Office for Child Neglect, no bond. Blackford confirmed his identity with his SSN and was advised of his warrant and placed under arrest. Blackford was searched incident to arrest which no contraband was found. Blackford’s warrant was confirmed through LEADS/NCIC by GPD dispatch. PO Wolfe transported Blackford to the Preble County line where he was released to Deputy Boyd of the Preble County Sheriff’s Office to be transported to the Preble County Jail. The backseat of Wolfe’s police cruiser 1931 was checked before and after transport and no contraband was found.

January 12

On January 12, 2023 at approximately 3:35 AM P.O. Robbins located and apprehended a known wanted fugitive at 225 Birt Street; South Towne laundry. He was on routine patrol when he noticed a female subject sitting inside of the South Towne laundry mat. When he entered the business he immediately recognized the female subject to be Amy Fields. P.O. Robbins had prior knowledge that Amy has an active warrant out for her arrest through the Darke County Sheriff’s Office. Dispatch ran Amy through LEADS/NCIC and confirmed that Amy has two active felony warrants, one being through the Darke County Sheriffs Office for a probation violation on the original charge of aggravated possession of drugs with no bond. The second felony warrant was out of the 17th Circuit Court out of Newport Kentucky for failure to appear on an original charge of promoting contraband with no bond. P.O. Robbins placed Amy into handcuffs and then searched her incident to arrest and no contraband was located. He then asked Amy if I could search her bookbags and she consented to the search. Upon searching one of the book bags P.O. Robbins located two plastic straws with a white powdery substance inside of both of them. He asked Amy what the substance was and she stated that she used speed two days ago. No other contraband was located. P.O. Robbins transported Amy to the Darke County Jail where she was incarcerated with no bond. The back seat of the cruiser was checked before and after transporting Amy and no contraband was located.
