National Child and Adult Care Food Program Week is March 12-18. The Department encourages child care centers, family day care homes, after-school programs and adult day centers that participate in the food program to join the celebration. The Department may showcase program sites that plan at least one nutrition activity in honor of the week and share it during the national celebration.
Email information about planned program site activities to Carmen Stewart by Feb. 24. In the email message, provide details about the activity, facility name, IRN, name of a contact person, telephone number and optional photos. The Department will randomly select a sample of facilities from these entries to feature during National Child and Adult Care Food Program Week. Each program site must ensure it has proper photo permissions as the Department may share the images publicly.
During Child and Adult Care Food Program week, the Department’s Office of Nutrition will host a daily live webcast in celebration. Each episode will feature a cooking demonstration, helpful tips, recipes, resources, local highlights and a book reading to motivate and inspire leaders in the child nutrition field. Registration information is forthcoming and will be available on the Child and Adult Care Food Program webpage.
Resources to help plan Child and Adult Care Food Program week celebrations are available from the National Child and Adult Care Food Program Sponsors Association website.
The National Child and Adult Care Food Program Sponsors Association uses the third week of each March to raise awareness about how the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Child and Adult Care Food Program works to combat hunger. The program brings healthy foods to tables across the country for children and adults in eligible settings.
