The Darke County Animal Shelter has a few “long-time residents” looking for “their” human, who wants to give them a loving home
All of them got the Bordatella and Parvo/Lepto/Distemper vaccines and are dewormed, heartworm negative and microchipped.
Visiting hours are Monday-Friday 8am-11:45 am and 1 pm-4pm. Saturday 9am-11:30 am.

We have been told that Gunner is 3-year-old intact male Husky/ B. Collie mix. Gunner’s owner told us that he is great with kids and does well with female dogs. Gunner knows how to sit and walks well on a leash. Gunner loves attention and is excited to meet new paople. Gunner has been waiting here for his forever home for 84 days!!! Gunner weighs in at 41.6 lbs.** ADOPTION SPECIAL $45** Bruiser came to us as a stray, so our knowledge is very limited and only to what we have observed. Bruiser was found playing with a little dog in someone’s barn yard. We believe Bruiser is a 1-year-old intact male Husky/ Shepherd Mix. We believe Bruiser could be a very well-behaved pup with some training. Bruiser is looking for someone who is going to have patience and give him attention! Bruiser loves to play tug of war! Bruiser has been here for 77 days waiting for his forever home! Bruiser weighs in at 80 lbs.** ADOPTION SPECIAL 45** River came to us as an owner surrender. We are told River is a 2-year-old intact male Lab Mix. River loves kids, cats, housebroken and loves to curl up in a fluffy bed and blankets. River is a very sweet boy who loves attention and toys especially trying to get the squeaker out! River has shown us he knows how to sit, lay down and is very treat motivated. River doesn’t seem to mind the other dogs here at the shelter and walks well on a leash. River weighs in at 76 lbs.
