Ronald “Ron” Eugene Dearing, 80, of Arcanum, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2023, surrounded by his family.
He was born on September 10, 1942, in Greenville, Ohio, to the late Arthur “Art” and Geraldine (Unger) Dearing.
Ron graduated in 1962 from Arcanum High School. Following graduation, he was drafted into the United States Army, where he became a drill instructor at Fort Hood, Texas. Ron was a carpenter working for Wright Patterson Air Force Base and Daytep Inc., retiring from both. He enjoyed a good meal and loved homemade ice cream. He loved to tell a good story. Ron was a family man and adored his grandchildren. His idea of a great time was sitting around a bonfire with friends and family.
Ron is survived by his wife of 55 years, Madonna (Troutwine) Dearing, whom he married on April 8, 1967; his children, Kevin (Charise) Dearing, Doug (Sheri) Dearing, Steve (Heather) Dearing, Jason (Ginette) Dearing; his 11 grandchildren; his 4 great grandchildren; his siblings, Richard “Dick” (Shirley) Dearing, Pat (Gordon) Platt, Jeanette (Gary) Russell, and Susan Lutz; and countless nieces, nephews and friends.
A celebration of Ron’s life will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday, February 24, 2023, at Grace Church, 4805 State Route 49, Greenville, Ohio 45331, with Bill Sowers officiating. Burial will follow at Abbottsville Cemetery.
His family will be receiving guests on Friday, from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at 11:30 AM at the church.
