Darke County students from all 8 schools explored future careers in a powerful way during Job Shadow Week, held November 10–14, 2025. This year’s event provided hands-on experiences across dozens of industries and organizations, reinforcing the community’s commitment to helping students plan for their futures.
A total of 427 job shadows were completed during the week, reflecting strong participation and meaningful engagement between students and local employers.
Local businesses and organizations played a vital role in making these opportunities possible. A special thank you goes to the many businesses and organizations that generously opened their doors to make these experiences possible.
One participating host, Jen Davenport, Director of Communications and Member Relations at Darke Rural Electric, shared the impact of the experience:
“Hosting a student for a job shadow reminded me why I love this work—every day is different, and everything we do is focused on serving people. I’m grateful I could share that with someone exploring their future.”
Students also expressed their appreciation for the program. Jaelyn Christman, a Greenville High School student who shadowed at Brethren Retirement Community, reflected on her experience:
“I had a wonderful time job shadowing at the Brethren Home. The staff and residents were so welcoming, and I enjoyed seeing the impact their work has every day.”
