Vandalism

March 17

On March 17, 2023 while assigned as the School Resource Officer at the Greenville High School, Police Officer was notified by Stan Hughes, Principal at Greenville High School, of an incident involving 2 students, damaging school property in the Auto Tech lab. Principal Stan Hughes stated he was approached by the Auto Tech teacher, Travis Nicholas, about an incident that occurred in the lab earlier at 9AM which he stated involved 2 students using butane torches to burn holes in other students coveralls while they were wearing them in class to complete work projects. Police spoke with Travis over the phone with Stan, and Travis stated he was told by two students in class, that 2 other students had burned holes in their coveralls while they were wearing them. Travis stated the 2 students would take turns distracting them while the other would come from behind them and burn the coveralls with the butane torch. Travis stated after speaking with the 2 students about the incident, they admitted to burning holes in the other students coveralls with the torches and also admitted to burning holes in each others coveralls. Travis stated there were a total of 5 coveralls damaged by the 2 students. Police then spoke with the 2 students about the incident. Both admitted to using the butane torches during class to burn holes in each others coveralls which they were wearing at the time. They then stated after burning each others coveralls they burned holes in 2 other students coveralls while they were unaware of what was happening. Police completed misdemeanor citations. Due to the incident creating a risk of physical harm to other persons, the charge is enhanced to a misdemeanor of the 1st degree.

Assault

April 5

On April 5th 2023 at 7:28 AM police was dispatched to 122 West Main Street, the GPD, reference an assault. Upon arrival, police spoke to the complainant, Madison Mitchell. Madison advised on this date between 7AM and 7:15AM, she was taking her friend Katlyn Delaney home from work. Katlyn resides at 214 Surrey Lane with her mother Joyce Delaney. Madison stated while sitting in the driver seat of her vehicle, Joyce stepped out of the residence and began arguing with Madison. She stated the argument was regarding a prior incident involving Madison and Katlyn pranking Katlyn’s sister Alexis Delaney. During the argument Madison stated that Joyce reached into the vehicle wrapping her hands around Madison’s neck attempting to choke her. No marks or physical signs were left on Madison’s neck. After speaking with Madison police stepped outside of The Greenville Police Department into the parking lot to speak with Katlyn. atlyn advised police that while sitting in the passenger seat she witnessed her mother Joyce reach into the vehicle putting her hands around Madison’s neck attempting to choke Madison. Madison completed a written statement which will be filed with this report. Katlyn was given a written statement and will return it when completed. On April 6th 2023 police made contact with Joyce at 214 Surrey Lane regarding the incident. Police asked Joyce if she had hit Madison the day before. Joyce stated that she did not wrap her hands around Madison’s neck. Joyce stated due to her nails being long she would’ve left scratches or marks on Madison’s neck. Joyce informed police that her daughter Courtney Delaney and her friend Tiffany Hanley were both there and witnessed the incident. Police spoke with Tiffany and Courtney; they both advised that Joyce never put her hands on Madison. On April 7th 2023 at 6:4$AM police made contact with Joyce at 214 Surrey Lane. Police collected the witness statements from Joyce, Tiffany and Courtney. Katlyn has been uncooperative with returning the witness statement. Due to lack of evidence and an uncooperative witness no charges will be filed toward Joyce Delaney and this case is now closed.

Domestic Violence

April 10

On April 10th, 2023 at approximately 11:11 PM, police was dispatched to 413 Armstrong Street, in the City of Greenville on the report of a possible domestic. Dispatch advised the complainant, Carla Wintrow, stated Barry Robertson had thrown her on the ground and up against the wall. She also advised he grabbed her by the throat and told her he was going to kill her. Carla requested Greenville Township Rescue to the scene. When police arrived Carla came out and she stated Barry had choked her and hurt her wrist. Police shined light on Carla’s throat first and did not see any marks on her throat. Police then shined light on her wrist and did not observe any red marks, swelling, or bruising. Carla requested to be transported to Wayne Hospital. Police then stepped inside with Barry who had already spoken with other officers. Barry advised Carla had stabbed his chair and the wall with a knife. Police asked Barry if he pushed Carla and he stated he had not. Police asked if he hit or choked Carla, he again advised he had not and stated he did not touch her at all. Carla and Barry both reside at this address and have for several months. Police he had served both Carla and Barry with a nuisance abatement notice on March 20th, 2023. Dates for calls for services listed in the nuisance abatement order are as follows: 5/22/22, 11/19/22, 11/24/22, 12/12/22, 12/14/22, 12/28/22, 12/28/22, 1/4/23, 1/4/23 and 3/12/23. Police issued citations to both Barry and Carla for the nuisance abatement.

Missing Person

April 13

On April 13, 2023 at 1:46AM police was dispatched to 846 North Ohio Street in reference to a missing person. Upon arrival police spoke with the complainant/grandfather, Tsakania Goodpaster. Tsakania reported that his nonverbal autistic grandson had left the residence at approximately midnight when he fell asleep. Tsakania reported that his grandson had exited through the sliding glass door leading to the fenced backyard before opening the fence and exiting the property. He had been wearing pajama pants with a short sleeve shirt and without shoes or socks. The weather outside was approximately 50 degrees at the time he went missing. PO Hall arrived on the scene and deployed his canine in order to track the missing person from where he left the residence. While attempting to locate the missing person, dispatch received a call of a male matching the description. The caller stated the male was at a residence located near Miami Street and South Chippewa Street. The missing person was located in a vehicle at that location by SGT Raffel. He was also observed attempting to enter houses on South Chippewa Street after having exited the vehicle. Police responded to the scene followed by Tsakania who took his grandson into his care. Police observed Tsakania attempting to locate a firearm that he was unsure the location of while assisting his grandson into his vehicle. Tsakania stated that he had recently had the firearm but was unsure if it was in the vehicle or at his residence. The firearm was unable to be located in the vehicle before Tsakania’s grandson was transported back to his residence. After returning to the residence located on North Ohio Street police spoke with Tsakania who denied needing medical attention for his grandson. Police observed the sliding glass door that Tskania’s grandson had left through had a lock in the upper right corner that had been left unlocked. There was also an electronic system in place that notified anytime a door was opened. Police asked Tsakania to attempt to find the missing firearm at which point he became hostile towards the police stating that he would get around to looking for it. Police left after Tsakania reported not needing their presence at the residence any longer.

Forgery

April 15

On April 15, 2023 around 1:34PM police was dispatched to Eikenberry’s IGA, 1120 Sweitzer St in reference to a counterfeit $10 bill located. Upon arrival police spoke to the complainant, Vickie Miller. Vickie advised approximately 15 minutes earlier she was getting at Speedway, 1350 Sweitzer St, in Greenville. Vickie went inside and purchased some items with a $20 Bill. Vickie was given a fake “Replica” $10 bill from the cashier as change for her purchase. Vickie did not realize she had a fraudulent $10 bill at the time and left the store. Vickie drove down to the IGA shortly after and attempted to purchase items with the fake $10 bill but was advised by staff that they would not take it. Vickie called us shortly after. Vickie and police went back to Speedway and spoke to the manager about the fake bill. There was no way to tell where the fake $10 bill came from other than the register. The manager reimbursed Vickie and gave her a real $10 bill. The fake bill was brought back to the Greenville Police Department where it was placed into property.

Theft

April 18

On April 18, 2023 at approximately 8:12PM police responded to 311 South Broadway Street #B, Mini Mall of All reference a theft complaint that occurred on April 15, at approximately 11AM. Upon arrival police made contact with the owner of the store, Gail Jones. Gail advised that when she arrived to the store earlier on today’s date, she noticed that a pair of black Bose Headphones was missing from the store. Gail stated that she looked back through her sales paperwork and noticed that there was not a sale for the headphones. Gail stated that a customer located the sleeve of the box that the headphones were in laying on a table inside of the store. Gail was able to retrieve video of the incident which occurred on April 15 between 11AM and 2PM. In the video, a subject wearing a hat, blue jacket and jeans, identified as Thomas Lee, can be seen grabbing the box of headphones off of a shelf near the register. Thomas can then be seen taking the box to the back of the store where he takes the sleeve of the box off and puts the box containing the headphones into his jacket. Thomas then passed all points of sales and exited the store without paying for the item. Gail filled out a written statement and a victims rights form. The total loss is valued at $199. Gail also advised that the time stamps on the video are incorrect but the date is correct. A misdemeanor citation will be filled out a placed in the briefing log for when Thomas is located.

Trash

April 20

On April 20, 2023 at approximately 10:30 AM police was dispatched to 127 Virginia Avenue in reference to a trash complaint at the listed address. Upon arrival police observed the area at and around the residence to have large amounts of scrap metal and other miscellaneous debris laying in the yard. Police was able to make contact with the home owner/resident, Terry Kouts, and advised him of the complaint. He was served his copy of the trash notice and advised that he had five days to have the property cleaned up and within the parameters of City Ordinance. An email was sent to the Safety Service Director, Ryan Delk in reference to the trash notice.

Warrant/Fugitive from Justice

April 21

On April 21, 2023 at approximately 5:51AM police was dispatched to 110 Winchester Avenue reference an animal complaint. Upon arrival police made contact with the complainant Clarence Godwin at the listed residence. Clarence stated that Ralph Mccreery’s white dog was loose and running on the road. Police noticed the white dog which appeared to be a white Pitbull running on the road in front of 112 Winchester Avenue. Clarence then advised that the only subject inside of the residence was Denora Greek. Police had prior knowledge that Denora has an active warrant out for her arrest through the Greenville Police Department. Police knocked on the door to the residence and made contact with Denora. Denora was able to get the loose dog back inside the residence. Dispatch then ran Denora through LEADS/NCIC and confirmed that the she has an active misdemeanor warrant out of the Greenville Police Department on the original charge of Telephone Harassment with no bond, must serve three days. Police then informed Denora of the warrant. Police then placed Denora into handcuffs and Denora was searched incident to arrest and no contraband was located. Police then transported Denora to the Darke County Jail where she was incarcerated.
