GREENVILLE – The wait is finally over!
Beginning on Thurs., Dec. 4, Greenville Public Library will officially be switching over to our new, and very much improved, Evergreen library software. This change will not only allow us to serve our patrons more efficiently, but will also greatly enhance the user experience of anyone searching our catalog online.
The biggest, and most exciting, change will be the addition of thousands of new materials available through our library’s new consortium, Cool Cat. This will give those browsing our catalog the ability to see and reserve titles from the nine other Ohio libraries GPL is now connected to through Evergreen. In contrast to our current Inter-Library Loan system, patrons will be able to request these materials from their own devices or at kiosks located throughout our library. Once reserved, these items will automatically be shipped to us for patron pickup. Easy peasy, and oh so convenient!
In the days leading up to our Evergreen launch, there will be a few things we ask of our patrons. From Dec. 1 thru 3, we ask that you consider limiting the number of books you check out to 10 or less. We also recommend that any materials that are due during this transition time be held on to until after the Dec. 4 launch date.
We’d also like to remind anyone accessing their online account during this time that all passwords will reset to the last four digits of your phone number, which will likely mean anyone using Libby will have to log in with this new info. Once the transition is complete, passwords can be changed through your online account or at either the Circulation or Reference Desks.
Inter-Library Loans will still be available in a limited capacity during the transition, but there may be a slight delay in the materials being added to or taken off of your account.
Anyone with questions can contact us at (937) 548-3915. If at any point during this time you experience difficulties of any kind, do not hesitate to reach out. We’re here to make your transition experience as smooth as possible!
