
The Arcanum MVCTC FFA attended the 98th National FFA Convention which was held in Indianapolis Indiana October 29 – November 1. This year’s convention was attended by more than 74,000 FFA members, teachers, and guests from across the country. The four-day convention included Powerful Speakers, National Agricultural Career Show, National Officer Retiring Addresses, Award Presentations and the installation of six newly elected National Officers. Convention activities included attending several convention sessions where members were inspired by motivational speakers such as the 2024-25 National FFA Officers. Attendees enjoyed touring the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Quiet Harmony Elk Ranch during the trip. In between a busy convention schedule, students were able attend the Annual FFA National Career Show in the Indiana Convention Center. The career show hosted more than 400 booths from a variety of colleges, agricultural-related companies, fundraising organization, U.S. Armed Services and auto and truck manufacturers.
The highlight of the trip was the Farm and Agribusiness Management Team receiving a Gold Rating and a 12th place finish in the National Contest. The team consisting of Charlie Weiss, Katelynne Michael, Ethan Hartman and Landon Miller qualified for the National Contest by placing 1st in the Ohio FFA Contest. The farm and agribusiness management event is designed to cultivate essential business management skills among participants. This event emphasizes the assimilation of information, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities necessary for success in the fields of farm and agribusiness management. Participants gain valuable skills that can be applied not only in managing agricultural enterprises but also in pursuing careers in agricultural business and personal financial management. Participants analyze and respond to questions about an agricultural business and business principles. During this activity, the team is judged on their use of business management and economic principles, analysis of farm records and management resources, and consideration given to risk management practices.
