The Greenville Police Department routinely monitors covert Social Media accounts which portrays the subjects owning the accounts to be juveniles. Over the last approximate two months, the defendant who is 34 years old, has been in contact with a female he believed to be 15 years old via Facebook messenger. The defendant had been clearly told during previous conversations that the age of the person he was talking to is 15. On May 23, 2023, at 2:56pm, the defendant typed “call me.” At 3:06pm on the same date, police used a female decoy to speak with the defendant through an audio call on Facebook messenger. The conversation was recorded. During that conversation, the defendant was again reminded of the juvenile female’s age of 15 that he was speaking with. The defendant asked the juvenile female about her interest in dating him and inquired about the juvenile meeting him. During a second audio call on the same date shortly after the first phone call, the juvenile (decoy) and the defendant discussed what type of sexual relations they would have when they met. The defendant stated he would like to receive oral sex from the juvenile then he would later take her shopping to pay for clothes. The defendant refers to the juvenile as “babe” and “honey” and asks her to tell her what she wants. The defendant agreed to meet the juvenile at the city park near the band shell (approximately 500 feet from Greenville High School) in order to receive oral sex. The defendant also mentions giving the juvenile $300 after they meet. The defendant continuously asked the juvenile if she wanted him to be her boyfriend and also asked “do you want me to play with you?” and “do you want me to rub you?” The defendant stated he was on his way to meet the juvenile near the park. Police arrived in the city park and located the defendant on Avenue F near Harmon Drive on the same date, 5/23/23, at approximately 3:50pm (about 15 minutes after the last audio call ended).
